Magazine Construction
Now having analysed a variety of magazine to broden my horizon and give me a greater knowledge of Magazines I began constructing my own magazine, I analysed genre's from RnB to Rock, I analysed straplines; kickers; house-styles;imagaes and finally technical aspects such as postioning of barcodes and lettering for all my magazine covers, this gave me a greater understanding and an indepth knowledge of "Rap/Hip-hop" genre magazines this being the genre of magazine I had selected.
Once I had completed this I then began experimenting with "Adobe Photoshop" to again familirazie my self with it as i've never had the oppertunity to use the programme before, below is a screenshot of myself using "Adobe" experimenting certain types of fonts and brushes'.

I then had to establish what genre of music my magazine would consist of, I first compiled a questionnaire consisting of questions which help me construct my magazine. Once I had compiled my results I then tallied my results accordingly and put them into a graph, I now had a basis for my magazine. Below are a few examples of questions I had included in my magazine questionaire;
What in your opinion is a suitable price for a magazine?
Do you think it's vital to have audience interaction within the magazine?
What music magazine genre are you most likely to purchase?
I had now finally completed the "Reseach Segment" of my magazine design
Textual Analysis - Double Page Spread
This is a double page spread of the previous issue of 'Vibe' magazine. The same colour scheme is used allot to reiterate the mood and helps get the point across without complicating the page as there is a lot of writing set in columns just like a newspaper which also aims to get their message across. The columned writing may be perceived as boring but this magazine has used the strength of the picture to help readers think more about what is being said and help put some focus on having an image in their head and not just words.
This is also a double page spread of the magazine. As you can see the creator of this double page spread has chosen to use colour to make their message stand out before reading the article. The picture used is in colour but has chosen darker colours such as brown and blue which will help readers to see the picture as being sad and dark. But the photographer has put the child in the middle wearing a bright yellow top which stands out the most, and is used to show that the child is the happiness of the picture and even though there living in a bad situation everyone is together and happy about that.
The subtitle is in big bold red letters which stands out and allows the readers to know what the main topic of the article is before reading it is. The message is meant to be about something bad which is also shown in the picture but is also shown with the red writing which has connotations of bad things and blood.

Textual Analysis - Contents Page
The contents page in any magazine is truely vital as it enables consumers to navigate through the magazine, the contents page I have selected is from an RnB/Hip-Hop alternative magazine "Vibe" is very minimalistic and uses a single photograph to cover the entire page. This draws the readers eye directly to the page and makes them want to read it to see if any articles within the magazine are linked with the image that is being displayed. The typography on the contents page is small with larger bold titles, this draws the readers eye first to the title which is catchy enough to make them want to read the entire article.
The second magazine I have selected is "Drummer" which is the complete polar opposite to vibe magazine, This is done by presenting lots of articles available within the magazine as well as a host of images. This therefore widens the target audience due to the amount of artists within the magazine. The contents page also uses the name of the magazine to again make it stand out, It also show's the date in a big bold font which show's the audience it is a weekly published magazine.On the contents page a variety of images are shown with thier page number this enables the consumer to be able to quickly turn to thier chosen page just by looking at a particular image.

Now the research stage had been completed, I then began the Prelimanry task of my project which involved constructing a school magazine. I was told to construct a front cover and a contnets page, below is my final piece of work. As you can see I tried to incorparate every convention in Preliminary task as it would enable me to gain greater knowledge whilst constructing my own magazine.
